Hi Everyone - here we are with the latest update on what the band have been getting up to over the last few weeks; and what a busy time it's been too!!
For starters the band played a charity gig at Chinnerys on Thursday 24th September, supported by our good friends Malachai. It was all in aid of Able Kidz, a fairly new local charity which aims to help get disabled kids into mainstream education and give them the support they need - a really good cause. For a thursday night we had a great turn out, which was probably helped by the publicity on the run up to the gig. You may have heard the guys on Southend Radio on the Sunday prior to the gig, along with Sue Lee from the charity - 'Foot Down' from the 'Turn Out the Light' album got its first radio play, and more importantly we were able to plug the charity and the gig really well. Thanks to Tracy Cooper for letting us invade her studio! If you didn't hear that, you might have seen the article in the Evening Echo on Wednesday 23rd instead! Anyway, it all turned out to be a great night and thanks for coming along if you were there - much appreciated!
So on to the next line up of gigs. You'll see that we're finally playing the Sutton Arms in Southend this Friday night starting at about 10.00. All your favorite Reeper classics will be in there, along with some of the tracks from the album of course, and a couple of new songs which still have to be recorded. We're looking forward to it (as I write its only 2 days away!) and we hope you'll be able to come down and support us - it would be really good to see you there!
After that, we have another slot at Chinnerys on 22nd October, this time a great night with 4 bands including Solliss, so it should be a superb night. Ticket prices are yet to be confirmed, but mark it your diary now - this will be a good one!!
Then it's on to Saks Nightclub on 11th November. This will be our first visit to Saks so we're hoping for a good turn out and if you can come on down to see us we'de be dead chuffed to seeyou there - as always!
And of course we have our two Christmas gigs in the diary at Riga (17th and 18th). The first will be our annual Christmas party night which is always good fun; and on the other we support local legends Eddie and the Hot Rods. Both are guaranteed great nights out on the run up to the festive season, so hopefully we'll see you at one of them - or maybe both of them!?!
Apart from the gigs, the band continue their busy rehearsal schedule, though it's sometimes difficult to get everyone together because of other commitments; in fact the guys were asked if they wanted to enter Southend Radio's Battle of the Bands again this year, and although they would dearly loved to have played, they were just too busy to be able to fit it in!
In other news, drummer James and Matt played with Not Dead Yet (NDY) the other Sunday at the Cornucopia. Some good old rock n' roll! In fact the rest of Reeper were there as well, so in the end the whole band got up an played a couple of off the cuff numbers! Good fun it was too!! Keep an eye out for NDY - Matt plays with them regularly and they're a really great classic rock n' roll outfit.
Finally, a reminder that it's guitarist Ant's birthday on 19th October - but we won't let you in on how old! Suffice to say, old enough to know better!
I guess that's about it for this time round - plenty to be going on with!
Catch you out there at the gigs hopefully - and another post late October all being well.
Cheers for now

August Update
Crikey, it can't be so long since the last post here, but the time has flown by, and what with holidays and being busy it's been difficult to just find time to sit and write updates! Apologies for that, I'll try to make it more often from now on.......
Anyway, the band continues to go from strength to strength - here's what's been happening during the summer:
The April gig at Riga was fantastic so thanks to you if you came along to see us - we hope you agree it was a good night. Last Superheroes provided support so thanks to them too. Riga is one of our favorite places to play and it's always great to go back there - great guys, nice sound and an all round good venue!
After that, in May, we were back at Riga again for an amazing night with 4 bands playing in support of the Bosom Pals appeal for the breast unit at Southend Hospital, organised by the guys in Last Superheroes. Thanks if you came along to support - we have another charity gig coming up in September, but more on that later.
We played a last minute gig at Chinnery's with the Lucky Strikes in June, and because we didn't have any time to advertise it there weren't many people there, which is a shame because the two bands sounded awesome that night. The Chinnery's sound has improved we think, and the guy on the desk did an excellent job - the mix was just right. If you were there, I hope you know what we mean - we hope to get back into Chinnery's again soon!
Tonight we play a private party for the staff at the Cliffs Pavilion which we're really looking forward to - but it nearly didn't happen! Bassy Jim managed to do his back a nasty earlier this week and it was touch and go, but he thinks he'll be OK thankfully - though he may have to play sitting down!
And speaking of the guys in the band, Darren continues with his Masters in London which makes it difficult for him to get to rehearsals now and again, although he finishes the work at the end of August. James is still teaching drums at Allegro in Westcliff - in fact his student base has grown, so he must be doing someting right! He's also getting a new website which will be up soon: http://www.jamesfoxdrums.co.uk/. Antony is now taking his guitar exams and has just passed grade 6 with distinction (only 2 more to go!). And Matt is just Matt as always - long may it continue that way! The guys had an awesome holiday together with some other mates down in Cornwall in July - they had a great time if the DVD is anything to go by!
So on to the next major gig. NEXT SATURDAY!!! Make sure you get down to the Ship in Leigh next week for an amazing Reeper night. Doors open at 8.30 and we have support from a new band on the block - our old friend Ben from the sadly defunct Re-issue has a new band and will be playing - looking forward to seeing them! Please come down if you can make it - we promise a great night of live rock and for £4, it's the most fun you can have with your clothes on!!
After that, we're back in Chinnery's on 24th September. This is a charity night in aid of Able Kidz that we were asked to headline and we're looking forward to it already. At £4 for a ticket, or £12 for 4, it's a real bargain. We're not getting paid that night apart from expenses, so all proceeds are going to the charity which is a really good cause - please come and support the night if you can.
Phew! I think that'll do for this time round - next time hopefully there won't be quite so much to catch up on!!
Thanks for reading - we hope to see you out there sometime soon - hopefully next Saturday at The Ship? Go on, you know you want to really!!

April Update
Hi Everyone
It's been a while since the last update so I thought I'd better get right on it and give you the latest news about what's going on with the band....
Things are moving ahead nicely with those new songs ready to go now, after some fairly serious rehearsals. The new original song is a bit tricky, but as you know Reeper don't give up in the face of adversity, and they've kept plugging away at it until now, at last, it's ready for you to hear.
The next gig is approaching fast, but more on that later. First, huge thanks if you came along to supprt the band at O'Neill's in Southend. We had some technical problems with PA, but the night was a great success and a large crowd stayed on to dance the night away to two sets of the band's favorites - in spite of it being Comic Relief night. The pub seemed pleased, the booker was happy, we were delighted but more importanly the crowd liked it too! Looks like we might hopefully be making a return visit sometime soon - keep checking the gig guide for details.
So on to the next gig - it's at Riga Music Bar in Westcliff on Thursday 30th April, where Reeper are headlining with support from the Last SuperHeroes. The 2 bands have known each other for a while so it'll be good to get them on the same bill at last! It should be a blistering night, and at £5 what better value could you get on a Thursday night?! Please come down and see us - you won't be disappointed, and there are those new songs getting their first airing.....
Talking of gigs.....Reeper have just been confirmed as support for Eddie and the Hot Rods no less at Riga on Friday 18th December. So it'll be two nights on the trot at Riga for the band, with our own Christmas Party night on the 17th. Get those dates in your diary now!
Some nice new flyers have been printed up - they'll be available at the Riga gig next week. They're a really nice memento of the band so come and grab yours and be one of the first!
Finally, we should mention that drummer James is now teaching drums at Allegro Music in Westcliff - so if you've ever wanted to pound out some beats just like the man himself, now you know how you can get in touch!
I guess that's about it for now - more after the Riga gig. Hope to see you there - keep rocking, and keep it Reeper!
See you out there.

End February Update
How time flies - time for another quick update already.
The band are still hard at it in the rehearsal rooms twice monthly and have been practicing the new songs hard so that they're ready for you next time you see them. The two new original songs are sounding great - and the new covers? Well, its enough to say that one of them you'll recognise instantly as it's a real rock classic from a real classic rock album. The other is from movie soundtrack so you may not know it - but you'll soon have it firmly fixed in your head once you've heard Reeper play it. It's got such a catchy hook and chorus - I'd love to tell you what it is, but you'll just have to come along to one of the gigs to find out!!
Talking of which, Reeper are playing O'Neill's in Southend this Friday the 13th March. It's a last minute booking and we hope that as many of you as can be there will turn out to see them play. We really want to make a good impression here, so if we can pack the place out it'll be great for the band, great for the venue, and great for everyone who's there. It should be a great night with two sets from the band - and it's free admission. What more do you need? Come on down - the band are on at around 8.30 so we hope to see you there.
I guess that's about it for now - more in a week or two. Thanks for reading.
See you out there sometime soon.

MID FEB UPDATE
Now that the blog is sorted out we plan to bring you fairly regular updates, so welcome to the first one!!
As we hit mid February, the band are busy booking gigs for the coming year - so far we have 2 at one of our favorite venues, the Riga Music Bar in Westcliff; and another at the Ship in Leigh during August. Currently phone calls are being made and demos sent out as usual to book more. Keep checking the
4 new songs are in preparation as well and the band is continuing their busy rehearsals schedule - and with some new merchandise available (a new t-shirt and keyrings no less!! Keep checking the shop for more details soon) 2009 looks like it could be busy. We're hoping to get the band back into the recording studio this year too, to lay down a couple of new songs for a possible EP.
Some members of Reeper have been seen guesting with different bands at various venues as well. Drummer James and Matt have been playing with Not Dead Yet, at the Cornucopia along Southend sea front on various Sunday afternoons; and Ant and 'bassy Jim' have been popping in on odd occasions too. James has also been doing some session drumming with local band The Last Superheroes occasionally. So keep an eye out - you never know where the Reeper guys are going to turn up. As for Darren, well, he's going through his Masters degree in London, so it's a busy time all round for him too.
Anyway, that's about it for now I guess - more in a couple of weeks hopefully.
Cheers for now.

However, if you want to make any comments about the band, feel free to e-mail them in and we'll gladly add them to the blog for you.
Anyway, welcome again to the new improved website - we hope to see you out there sometime really soon.
